Keller Strings - Creators of WildHair and WildHair Bows

About Us

Since 1973 when the late Frank Keller purchased tools for violin repair, this family owned business has repaired and sold violin family instruments with integrity.  Founded in Manhattan, Kansas, the business was moved to Topeka in May of 1991 when it was purchased by Frank's daughter, Paula.  The business grew into a regional business with a national product, WildHair® (colored horsehair.)  In 1995 the product was born out of necessity when a Clinician visited Topeka with a colorful horsehair bow.  The hair dying began with "hanks" for local student bows, then boomed when dealers from across the country wanted fiberglass bows with WildHair®.  For years, the Chicago Symphony has ordered our WildHair® through their preferred violin shop.

As husband and wife, Paula and John operate the business, including the sales of mostly European violins and their bows, cases, and accessories.  Our forte´ is violin and bow restoration and repair.
